Housed in a historic building, Gasoline Alley Classics embraces history with style as one of the coolest new businesses on the Mother Road.
For those of us at Two Lane America, it’s been about ten years of traveling Route 66 in some capacity, and a lot has changed in those ten years… Certain Mother Road staples have fallen to the passage of time. Beloved owners and operators have passed on, and businesses have changed hands. But for us, a thrill of the last decade has been the number of new businesses, museums, and roadside attractions that have embraced the Route and poured new life into it.
One of the best examples over the past few years is Gasoline Alley Classics in Sapulpa, OK.

Started in the 1990s by Michael Jones and his uncle Larry Dunn, the business moved to its current location in 2022, just a block from the corner of Route 66 in downtown Sapulpa. And boy, what a location it is!
The building dates back to 1917 when it was the Sapulpa Motor Company. At the time, Model Ts were actually shipped to town in crates and assembled/sold in the building.
To pay homage to the building’s unique Ford heritage, visitors immediately notice two early Fords on display. Owner Michael Jones describes the two cars:
"The vehicles on display are a 1926 Model T touring car loaned from Kelsey Ingold that is like the one in the photo on the wall which was a 1917 Model T touring car. In the other window is my friend Mark Battenfield’s 1929 Model A Roadster Pickup that he and his father built before his day passed away. His dad got the last ride to the cemetery as his casket was carried in the bed of the truck."

After noticing the two cars on display, you’ll probably notice the floor next. During the 7 years of renovation to the building, they also stained all 8 states of Route 66 into the floor- a 55ft version of the route! Along with that, the floor also features a massive 10ft Route 66 shield.
But that’s not all that will catch your eye… There’s the back end of a car handing from the wall, tons of unique displays, and, of course, the now-famous bathrooms with decor so rad it was featured in a 2022 issue of Automobila magazine.
Aside from the decor and history of Gasoline Alley Classics, it’s a shopper’s paradise. Whether you’re looking for a unique shop rag, magnet, t-shirt or other small item or one of their bespoke custom car-themed furniture pieces, they have you covered.
Over the past few years, we’ve made Gasoline Alley Classics a regular stop on our Guided Route 66 Car Caravans, and they’re even kind enough to take group photos of us holding old signs.
If you’re traveling Route 66 in Oklahoma, add Gasoline Alley Classics to your list! Or, even better, just come along with us on one of our Guided Route 66 caravans and see it with us!
